The Library invites community members to learn about local history as Dr. Caroline Crimm of Historic Tours of Texas leads a lecture on hidden stories from Huntsville and Walker County—scheduled for Tuesday, April 8 at 4:30 p.m. in the Genealogy Room; attendees are encouraged to bring and share their own stories.

A circulating video shows a teacher at Moorhead Junior High striking, slamming, and choking 7th grader Jace Dunaway during a fight that stemmed from alleged bullying, and an investigation by Conroe ISD and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office found the teacher acted within Texas law—Jace’s father has since removed his sons from the district and plans legal action.

Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a non-profit using data science to boost student achievement, released the Honor Roll list for 2024 that recognized 762 schools and 63 districts in Texas for closing achievement gaps. Conroe ISD had 10 schools earn the recognition as part of a national effort to share best practices in reading, writing and math.
