Good morning, Conroe.

Since 2023, more than a dozen new businesses opened and four residential projects began along Highway 242 near I-45, sparking traffic issues and prompting plans for highway expansion—local officials note the corridor’s growth continues to attract residents.

Montgomery County Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray said the rapid development confirms the county is experiencing significant change.

Former Conroe ISD kindergarten teacher Brian Schultz was arrested on April 23 at 8:54 p.m. for allegedly engaging with a minor online—he was immediately terminated and faces a second-degree felony charge for online solicitation of a minor.

Montgomery County removed the proposed Townsend Blvd road project from the ballot days ago, but the developer said it will continue its work and taxpayers might later pay nearly $30 million for the road; more homes are planned nearby, and neighbors worry about floods+ heavy traffic.
