- ➤ On June 11th, 2025, Montgomery County Sheriff deputies pursued a stolen gray 2017 Kia Soul reported from Irving that was speeding north on I-45 near Willis and eventually stopped, leading to the arrest of 17 year old Jamarian Hawkins on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading detention and possession of a controlled substance, and resulting in two juvenile passengers being taken to the county juvenile detention facility. - ➤ On June 12th, 2025, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office arrested Brian Lee Todd from Porter for failing to register as a sex offender—he is now held at Montgomery County Jail. Conroe Today
- ➤ On June 6, 2025, a Montgomery County District Attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force sergeant was investigating online child exploitation when videos showing a child in sexual positions led him to request a warrant and work with the Orange Police Department, which arrested suspect Edward Anthony Hoffman in Vidor at 2:30 p.m.—after identifying the child victim, charges for promotion of child pornography and aggravated sexual assault of a child were filed. - ➤ Sam Houston State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine announced that its inaugural Class of 2024 earned a 100% first time pass rate on the COMLEX-USA Level 3 exam during its 2024 testing cycle + the achievement places it among only two of 44 eligible osteopathic medical schools nationwide. The college in Conroe, which trains primary care physicians for rural and underserved areas, built on earlier success with the highest first-time pass rate on the COMLEX-USA Level 1 exam. KSAM
- ➤ Conroe ISD held its annual Student Leadership Academy last week, where David and Sheree Suchma (namesakes of Suchma Elementary) led 48 rising eighth-grade students through four days of leadership activities, including interview workshops, alumni panels, and a scavenger hunt at the Deane Sadler Administration Building.
