EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Woodlands Family YMCA and Conroe ISD have partnered to expand the after-school care program available at five elementary schools—after Labor Day the program will add five more campuses and may include others if at least 15 to 20 students sign up before September 1. KSAM
- ➤ Conroe ISD offers career and technical education programs in thirteen career clusters and twenty-six specialized studies with a policy that prohibits discrimination on race, color, national origin, sex or disability — ensuring all students can enroll regardless of English language skills. The district also designates coordinators for Title IX and Section 504 to address rights and grievance issues. Conroe Today
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After years of legal battles, the San Jacinto River Authority and the City of Conroe reached a settlement last Friday that ends past water rate disputes. The deal allows the city to pay overdue and current charges while receiving extra surface water and a shortened 40-year contract—dropping old penalties and easing future treatment plant costs for local families.
