- ➤ Backpack the Block: Back to School Carnival will take place Sunday, August 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lee Baron parking lot on 11th Street—offering 250 backpacks with school supplies, carnival rides, face painting, snow cones and food provided by Lee Baron Fashions and local partners. KSAM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Calfee Middle School in Willis ISD does not have water yet, leaving families worried before school opens on August 13. City Council will meet at 10 a.m. today at Conroe Tower—officials will address the dispute caused by the school’s location outside the city limits. Click2Houston.com
- ➤ County officials said that Willis ISD’s Calfee Middle School still does not have water, with county judge Mark Keough calling the situation a water hostage crisis even though inspectors and the fire marshal were onsite to help open the school set to start on Wednesday plus city officials said a developer agreement is needed to restore service. A special city council meeting will be held on Saturday to discuss the issue. ABC 13
